His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa listens to His Holiness Dalai Lama at the latter’s special lectures for Tibetan youth
His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa attended the special lecture on the essence of Buddhism, given to Tibetan youth by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness explained the key aspects of Tibetan Buddhism to Tibetan high school and college students, with great emphasis on the benefits of studying Buddhism. Highlighting the need for the study of Buddhism, His Holiness advised that a deeper and fuller understanding of Buddhism enables one to become what His Holiness calls a “Buddhist of the 21st century: “Complimenting faith with knowledge and reason, one understands why Buddhism is a philosophy, a religion, a science, to transform the mind.”
Over 3500 young Tibetans from India and five different countries have registered for this special introductory Buddhist class, which the organizers of the teaching say is the first of its kind held so far. The teaching were held from June 1-3 at the Upper Tibetan Children’s Village School’s main hall.
