Gyalwang Karmapa Inaugurates and Consecrates Mitreya Bodhi Stupa

December 2, 2009 – Gurpa, Bihar

His Holiness inaugurated and consecrated the Mitreya Bodhi Stupa, which is situated on top of a hill, within the Mahakassappa cave (Rewo Jakhang).

Rewo Jakhang, the Holy Kukkutta Padagiri, is located in Gurpa area of Bihar – a two hour drive from Bodhgaya.

Upon reaching Gurpa, the Stupa opening ceremony organizers and head of the local Indian village welcomed His Holiness.

After taking a short rest, His Holiness climbed up the hill towards the holy cave of Rewo Jakhang. The hike took almost an hour.

Bikkhu S.T. Annanda received His Holiness at the summit, and the opening ceremony was initiated after inaugurating the Stupa.

Bhikkuni Sik Tsi, the sponsor of the Stupa, as well as Master Ching Yao and many sangha members were present at the ceremony.

“We are blessed by His Holiness accepting the invitation and gracing the ceremony,” said Bhikku Annanda – of the Asian Buddhist Culture Center, Bodhgaya – and one of the main organizers of the event.

Gyalwang Karmapa Arrives in Bodhgaya

His Holiness Karmapa arrived in Bodhgaya today at 4:30pm. While in Bodhgaya, His Holiness will be participating in the 13th Karmae Gunchoe, the 27th Kagyu Monlam, and he will later attend His Holiness Dalai Lama’s teachings during the beginning of January, 2010. Read more

Gyalwang Karmapa Inaugurates TCV Chauntra School Center for Disabled Students

On the 5th founding anniversary of the TCV School of Chauntra, His Holiness inaugurated and consecrated a special center for disabled students.

His Holiness graced the anniversary as chief guest, and Mr. Tsultrim Tenzin (Member of Parliament of Tibetan Government in Exile) and all the heads of the local Tibetan settlements also attended the occasion. Read more

Karmapa in America ’08 DVDs Now Available

Last year, through our joint effort, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, made his historic first visit to the U.S. He mesmerized audiences across America with his profound and compassionate teachings. Today, November 9, after much anticipation, those incredible teachings are finally available on DVD.

Gyalwang Karmapa Visits Mysore and Speaks at TED India

November 4-7, 2009 – Mysore, India

His Holiness has completed his participation in the November 4-7 conference called TEDIndia, a belated coming-out party at the Infosys campus for the global rise of India and South Asia. Top thinkers from India and elsewhere, from a wide cross-section of disciplines, gave moving talks and shared ideas about how to grapple with and ameliorate some of India’s—and the world’s—most challenging problems through technology (T), education (E), and development (D). His Holiness attended talks and social gatherings for the first three days of the program and made many wonderful connections with talented people working to help the world.

On Friday, November 6, His Holiness took a break from his participation in TEDIndia to lead a prayer service in Mysore, organized by the South Zone Kagyudpa Buddhist Council, for the victims of recent flooding in South Asia.
