This winter the 26th Sakya Monlam Chenmo will be held in Bodhgaya from December 26, 2017 to January 4, 2018, and the Gedun Chotrul Chenmo and Jang Guncho will be held in Bodhgaya over the course of fifteen days in January 2018. In addition, the hundred-day teaching on Mahamudra at Sherabling Monastery and the Kangyur transmission at Rumtek Monastery will last well into December 2017.
For these reasons, at the suggestion of the Gyalwang Karmapa, it has been decided to postpone the 35th Kagyu Monlam until February 2018, in order to reduce difficulties by having events successively and to make it easier for monks and nuns to attend. The Kagyu Guncho lasts for several weeks and the weather in Bodhgaya gets hot, so it will be postponed until the end of 2018. The Arya Kshema Winter Dharma Gathering will be held following the Monlam.
