His Holiness Karmapa celebrated the award of the US Congressional Gold Medal to the His Holiness Dalai Lama. The Karmapa stated that he was rejoicing in this “historic day with utmost pleasure.” The award of the highest civilian honor in the United States is another recognition of His Holiness Dalai Lama’s exemplary peaceful, non-violent approach to the issues concerning the peoples of Tibet, and indeed, all beings.
In the morning, at Gyuto Ramoche Temple, His Holiness offered the mandala offering at the seat of His Holiness Dalai Lama and performed a puja for this remarkable and historic day. Later, in an elaborate function by the Gyuto Ramoche University, Tibetan cultural songs and dances organized by TCV School of Suja, Gopalpur and local Nepali community were performed at the temple’s courtyard.
The Tsurphu Labrang and Gyuto Ramoche University organised the aspiration Puja led by His Holiness, and offered lunch to everyone who has gathered for the celebraton. – Tashi Paljor
