3 Days Puja for His Holiness’ Coming Obstacle Year

Tsurphu Labrang has organized three days puja for His Holiness coming obstacle year. The prayer was sited under the Bodhi tree where all the monks who attended Kagyu Monlam Chenmo were present.

On the first day of the puja Kangyur and Dolma Bumtsar puja was made, Gonpo Tsog-bum was on second day and on the third day Säng puja and Tsurphu Labrang offered Ten-shug (Long live) and Mandala to His Holiness. His Holiness attended for a short period on the third day, Ten-shug offering was led by General Secretary Drupon Rinpoche followed by Chamsing La and others. After finishing the Tenshug His Holiness return back to Tergar and continued the teaching.

Welcome to the Year of the Earth Mouse

7th February, 2008 is Tibetan New Year (Losar). The year is now 2135, the Earth Mouse year according to Tibetan Calendar. The Gyalwang Karmapa celebrated his Losar at Gyuto Ramoche Monastery in Dharamsala. In the morning of Losar, His Holiness presided over prayer at the main shrine hall. All the monks of Gyuto, the staff of Tsurphu Labrang and many devotees attended the prayer. Ceremonial sweet rice and Tibetan tea was offered by Gyuto Monastery to all who gathered here for the Losar Ceremony. Gyuto Khen-Rinpoche offered a mandala to His Holiness. The ceremony was concluded with the blessings from His Holiness to the assembly. Later, all the staff of Tsurphu Labrang had a private audience with His Holiness.

On Losar evening, His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche arrived at Gyuto Monastery to wish His Holiness ‘Tashi Delek’ for Losar and they had dinner together.

His Holiness Turns 18 Years of Age

 

His Holiness at the birthday celebrations in Dharamsala

On June 26, 2003, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa turned 18 years old, according to the Western traditions of counting birthdays. (According to the Tibetan tradition, His Holiness was 19 years old as of the Tibetan New Year.) At Gyuto, though no large celebration was planned, many people showed up to wish His Holiness well. Offerings were made by representatives of the Tsurphu Labrang and Sherab Ling Monastery, and long life prayers were performed by a gathering of supplicants. His Holiness gave a teaching in the afternoon. In Rumtek, celebrations were presided over by HE Gyaltsab Rinpoche and a video message specially taped by His Holiness was played for the attendees.
