His Holiness Completes Winter Tour with Area Visits and leaves Varanasi for New Delhi and Dharamsala (January 14 -18, 2008)

14th January, 2008: The Gyalwang Karmapa gave talk and audience, as pre requested by the Kagyu students of Central Institute for Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS)at Vajra Vidhya in Saranath. The Khenpo of CIHTS offered madala to His Holiness. The Gyalwang Karmapa visits the sacred sites of Sarnath

15th January, 2008: The Gyalwang Karmapa visited the sacred sites of Sarnath, where our Teacher the complete and perfect Buddha turned the Wheel of Dharma. His Holiness first led Khenchen Yongzin Thrangu Rinpoche and the monks of the Vajra Vidya Institute in monlam prayer service at the Dhamekh Stupa. The service included mandala offering to the Buddha, the Aspiration for Noble Conduct and other prayers, and concluded with a feast offering. In addition to the sangha, many faithful devotees from Tibet, Bhutan, other Himalayan regions and foreign countries participated in the service. His Holiness circumambulated the stupa. His Holiness Karmapa Concludes 2005-2006 Tour and Returns to Dharamsala (February 2006)

After closing the 2550th Buddha Jayanti Celebration in Bodhgaya, His Holiness returned to Varanasi on the 20th of February, arriving at Vajra Vidhya Insitute in the afternoon. On his final day in Varanasi, the Karmapa fed the deer at Deer Park in Sarnath and meditated in front of the relics of Sakyamuni Buddha stored at the Relic Stupa. His Holiness then departed for New Delhi, on his way to back to Dharamsala.

Before departing New Delhi, His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa gave a teaching to the Tibet Study Group of India outdoors at the International Centre Auditorium in New Delhi. His Holiness arrived at his temporary camp in Gyuto Ramoche Tantric University on the 25th of February.

HH Karmapa Leads Tibetan Community in New Delhi in Prayers After Delhi Bombing and J&K Earthquake (December 12, 2005)


His Holiness is welcomed at the Majnukatilia Tibetan camp in Old Delhi with traditional musical intruments and decorations

On December 12, 2005, His Holiness Karmapa visited the Tibetan Settlement at Majnukatila in Delhi. At the request of the Tibetan Welfare Office, His Holiness performed special prayers in response to the recent bombing incident in Delhi and the October 8th earthquake which caused such destruction in Pakistan and the Indian side of Kashmir. His Holiness prayed for blessings for those who passed away, for comfort for the injured, and for the good fortune that similar natural and man-made calamities never occur again on this world, the home of sentient beings.

HH Karmapa Confers Public Chenresik Empowerment at Jayanti Park in Delhi

At the end of February, His Holiness returned to New Delhi on his way back to his camp at Gyuto Tantric University in Sidbhari. On February 23, at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi, the Karmapa gave a public teaching and offered a Chenresik empowerment. Some 6000 to 7000 persons were able to fit in the Park for the empowerment.
