Himachal Drukpa Kagyu Organise Special Long Life Offering for Gyalwang Karmapa

Saturday 9th April, 2011 – Gyuto

On Saturday afternoon, hundreds of Gyalwang Karmapa’s followers from the Drukpa Kagyu tradition travelled especially from different parts of Himachal Pradesh to join together in offering a Drukpa Kagyu Tenshug for His Holiness in the main shrine room of Gyuto Ramoche Monastery.

Many travelled for hours in order to reach Gyuto; some, from the remote regions of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, had even travelled for days. From early in the morning, the courtyard below the temple began to fill with their cars, jeeps, motorcycles and hired buses.

His Eminence Khamtrul Rinpoche from Khampa Gar Monastery, Tashi Jong Tibetan refugee settlement, led this special Drukpa Kagyu Tenshug. Gyalwang Karmapa Returns to Gyuto Ramoche Monastery

4th April, 2011

His Holiness arrived back at Gyuto Monastery, his temporary residence, after successfully completing his visit to Sarnath where he gave his Spring Teachings for both Tibetan and international students.

His Holiness will now resume his normal routine of study, audiences and local visits.

Gyalwang Karmapa Gives Audience for Tibetan Community in Delhi

More then 300 People from the Tibetan Camp, at Majnukatilla gathered in the hall at Rohini TCV Youth Hostel, northeast of Delhi.

Gyalwang Karmapa Addresses Faculty and Students Of Central University for Tibetan Studies

March 21, 2011Vajra Vidya Institute, Sarnath

The Gyalwang Karmapa today visited the Central University for Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, and delivered an address to its students and faculty. During his annual stays in Sarnath, the Gyalwang Karmapa often lectures at the institute, which is the first accredited university in India to offer academic degrees in Tibetan studies.

Vice Chancellor Geshe Ngawang Samten gave a warm speech of welcome, praising the Gyalwang Karmapa for the acute sense of responsibility for preserving Tibetan cultures that he has displayed over the years.

Gyalwang Karmapa’s Anthem for The Vajra Vidya Institute

March 20, 2011Vajra Vidya Institute, Sarnath

At the request of Khenpo Lobsang Tenzin, Head of Vajra Vidya Institute, Gyalwang Karmapa wrote a short song to be used as the anthem for the Institute, and presented it to Khenchen Yongzin Thrangu Rinpoche during the Lama Choepa on Saturday morning.

At 4.00pm, after the heat of early afternoon had subsided, there was a short celebration in the main shrine room during which the song was performed for the first time by monks of the Vajra Vidya Institute.
Gyalwang Karmapa sat cross-legged and at ease in the golden sun chair he uses for less formal occasions. “Consciousness and Wisdom” A Teaching by The Gyalwang Karmapa

During the teaching, Gyalwang Karmapa explained that three topics had been suggested: the lama- disciple relationship, consciousness and wisdom [to link in with Thrangu Rinpoche’s teachings] or a topic of his own choosing. His Holiness covered all three in nearly two hours of teaching to a packed shrine room!
