Revival Of Kagyu Tradition of Practice of Tantras of Marpa Continues at Vajra Vidhya Institute (February 2006)

At the request of Ven. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, His Holiness joined in the last day of the practice of the Dakmema Puja at Vajra Vidhya Insitute on February 13, 2006. In January 2002 after the completion of the 2001 Kagyu Monlam, His Holiness presided over a conference at Vajra Vidhya of all Karma Kamtsang monasteries. At that conference, His Holiness called on all Kamtsang Monasteries to focus their attention on reviving the cycle of the Thirteen Tantras of the Great Marpa Lotsawa, which tantras are central to the Kagyu monastic practice. On Wednesday, February 8, 2006, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa attended a conference entitled “The Convergence of the Views of the Four Great Lineages of Tibetan Buddhism” at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. On the last day of the Kagyu Monlam Chenmo, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa graciously offered a special set of fifteen-inch polished copper and gold statues of Marpa, Milarepa and Gampopa as a special gift to all the Kagyu Monasteries present at the Monlam. His Holiness In Bodhgaya (January 2006)

The 23rd Annual Great Monlam Aspiration of the Glorious Unequaled Kagyu Sangha, which began January 7 in Bodhgaya, successfully concluded on January 14th with a moving nighttime butter lamp ceremony and special aspiration prayers. The prayers and songs included a new composition by His Holiness in Tibetan and translated into English entitled “An Aspiration for the World.” The composition was musically arranged for singing by the international audience in attendance at the Monlam, and concludes with the aspiration that in every section of the world will thrive “a fertile field of peace and joy, rich with the leaves and fruits of happiness, filled with many scents of freedom.” under the descendent of the very Bodhi Tree where Buddha Sakyamuni attained enlightenment.
