His Holiness Dalai Lama Meets His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa In Sarnath (November-December 2006)

On December 17, 2006, His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at Sarnath airport Sunday noon to give religious teachings beginning 19th December at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) in Sarnath. His Holiness the Gyalwa  Karmapa  received him at the airport.

His Holiness Dalai Lama, accompanied by His Holiness Karmapa, arrived at Vajra Vidya Institute, where Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche offered a mandala to His Holiness Dalai Lama. After finishing their prayers, His Holiness had lunch at Vajra Vidya Institute with His Holiness Karmapa ,Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and Tenga Rinpoche.

His Holiness In Sarnath for the Annual Winter Retreat for Debate and Logical Study(November-December 2006)

The Karmapa is in Sarnath as part of his his Fall-Winter tour by traveling to Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where he is presiding over the Karma Gön Chö, the Winter Retreat for Debate and Logical Study, held annually at Vajra Vidhya Institute.

The Karma Gön Chö began this year on November 21st and concludes December 20th, 2006. Throughout the one month program, teachings will be given by both His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa as well as Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche.His Holiness arrived at the Vajra Vidya Institute in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh on November 19th, 2006. Venerable Thrangu Tulku Rinpoche and monks from the Vajra Vidhya Institute Shedra (monastic college) welcomed the Karmapa’s return with traditional offerings of saffron sweet rice and sweet milk tea.

His Holiness Concludes Fall-Winter Tour

The Karmapa arrived back to his temporary camp at Gyuto Monastic College in Dharamsala, after presiding over the the Great Monlam Aspiration of the Glorious Unequaled Kagyu Sangha (Pal Nyammay Kagyupay Sangha Monlam Chenmo) in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India. He also offered the Chakrasambhara and Green Tara initiations at Tergar Monstery, and was a Buddhist representative at the interfaith ceremony commemorating the Enlightenment and Parinirvana of Lord Buddha 2550 years ago. Before arriving in Bihar, His Holiness presided over the Karma Gön Chö, the Winter Retreat for Debate and Logical Study, held annually at Vajra Vidhya Institute in Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. HH Karmapa also hosted His Holiness Dalai Lama at Vajra Vidya Institute. At the inception of his Fall-Winter Tour, His Holiness presided over the Parinirvana Anniversary of Very Ven. His Holiness Continues His Tour with Visit to Kalu Rinpoche Stupa and Public Blessing Ceremony (November 2006)

His Holiness offered the blessing initiation of long life to a large crowd of disciples who had gathered from all over the region, including Nepal, Bhutan, West Bengal, as well as the nearby seat in India for the Gyalwa Karmapas, in Rumtek, Sikkim, India.

His Holiness Karmapa’s Fall-Winter 2006 tour continued as His Holiness visited the Siliguri, west Bengal, area on November 16-17. His Holiness Presides at Parinirvana Anniversary of Very Ven. Bokar Rinpoche (November 2006)

On October 31, 2006, His Holiness left Gyuto Tantric University with Gyaltsab Rinpoche and his entourage, first traveling to Chandigarh for a lunch with a government official, AGDP Joti. After an brief stay in Delhi, His Holiness on November 2nd flew to Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal, en route to Bokar Ngedon Chokhorling Monastery, where he is presiding over the third parinirvana anniversary ceremonies for the late Very Venerable Bokar Rinpoche. Numerous government, monastic and lay officials and representatives, as well as some 1,000 disciples, received His Holiness at the Bagdogra airport.
