On 16th July, 2007, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche was in Dharamsala as one of the representatives of the Nyingma Lineage who offered Tenshug to His Holiness Dalai Lama. Afterwards, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche met with Gywalang Karmapa.

On 22nd July, His Holiness was chief guest at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, where he gave a talk on Tibetan science, literature and Buddhist philosophy at the annual debate sessions. More then 250 students of the College and three participants of each of the affiliated Buddhist institutions attended.

His Holiness Dalai Lama’s Birthday and Visit to TCV

6 July 2007: On the auspicious day of the 6th of July, His Holiness Karmapa visited His Holiness Dalai Lama’s palace early in the morning to offer his respects and good wishes for the celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 72nd birthday (Western calendar). HH Dalai Lama presided over the joyous celebration in the courtyard of the Tsuglagkhang (Main Temple), attended by top officials of the Tibetan government in Exile, including Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche (Prime Minister), Chairman Karma Choephel (Deputy Speaker), Gyari Dolma (Supreme Justice Commission and Justice Commission). Other Kalons of the Central Tibetan Administration and Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche were present during the morning function.

Fifteen traditional Tibetan songs and dance items were presented by various institutions, including rare performances by schools from the remote and faraway areas of Spiti and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. HH Gyalwang Karmapa Quietly Celebrates his 22nd Birthday

On June 26, 2007, His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje’s 22nd birthday celebration program commenced at 8 am in the morning at Gyuto Ramoche Temple, the Karmapa’s temporary camp in Dhramsala. Unlike last year’s celebration of the Karmapa’s attaining the age of majority, this year’s celebration was a quieter affair, although attended by some 2000 dignitaries and disciples.

HH Dalai Lama’s Teachings to Tibetan Youth (June 1-3)

His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa listens to His Holiness Dalai Lama at the latter’s special lectures for Tibetan youth

His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa attended the special lecture on the essence of Buddhism, given to Tibetan youth by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness explained the key aspects of Tibetan Buddhism to Tibetan high school and college students, with great emphasis on the benefits of studying Buddhism. Highlighting the need for the study of Buddhism, His Holiness advised that a deeper and fuller understanding of Buddhism enables one to become what His Holiness calls a “Buddhist of the 21st century: “Complimenting faith with knowledge and reason, one understands why Buddhism is a philosophy, a religion, a science, to transform the mind.”

Guyhasamaja Teachings from HH Dalai Lama (May 19-30)

Their Holinesses Gyalwang Karmapa and Sakya Trizin attended His Holiness’ Dalai Lama’s teaching and commentary on Guhyasamaja at the Tsuglagkhang. Over 2600 people attended the teaching, including more than 2000 monks and nuns, and 169 foreigners. To receive the empowerment, attendees were required to have already received the Guhyasamaja Initiation as a pre-requisite to these advanced teachings. Read the rest of this article
