The Saraswati Charitable Trust was set up in the year 2003 as a Public Trust under the inspiration of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. His Holiness Represents Buddhist Religion at Interfaith Ceremony Celebrating Lord Buddha’s 2550th Anniversary

 

His Holiness, at the celebration of the 2550th Anniversary of the Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana, speaks to the Governor of Bihar, His Excellency R. S. Gawai

On December 29, 2006, His Holiness attended an interfaith ceremony at Maha Bodhi Temple to represent the Buddhist religion on the occasion of the 2550th anniversary of the year of Lord Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana. The occasion was celebrated by an interfaith prayer for world peace. His Holiness was invited to attend by the Maha Bodhi Temple Society who organized the prayer. His Holiness Guest of Honor at Global Conference for Peace (April 2006)

On April 8, 2006, His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa was the Chief Guest at the “Global Conference for Peace” organized by the Mahabodhi Society of India. The Conference was held in New Delhi and commemorated the 2550th Buddha Jayanti.

On his arrival at Mavalankar Auditorium, the venue of the function, Dr.B.K..Modi, President Mahabodhi Society of India, along with Ven. Chosphel Zotpa, Honorable Member of the National Commission of Minorities, Government of India, senior functionaries of the Society and others in attendance, accorded the Karmapa a rousing reception. Several religious leaders from different faiths were seated on the dais.
